For 2016 the monster family has come to include a new model the Monster 1200 R. Claimed to be the most powerful Monster ever and more track oriented. With 160 hp (120 kW) (claimed) 15 more hp than the Monster 1200 S and with 97 lb⋅ft (132 N⋅m) of torque. It is the same Testastretta 11° DS, 90-degree V-twin used in the Multistrada and Diavel. It has Öhlins suspension front and rear and a 1,509 mm (59.4 in) wheelbase compared to 1,511 mm (59.5 in) for the S model. With a claimed wet weight of 207 kg (456 lb) it also boasts a 200-section over the 1200 S’s 190 rear tire.
The Monster 797 was unveiled in 2016 at the EICMA Motor Show in Milan. In 2017, Ducati launched the Monster 797 in India. This entry-level Monster is powered by an 803cc, Desmodue , twin-cylinder, air-cooled engine makes 73.9 hp (55.1 kW) and 69 N⋅m (51 lbf⋅ft). The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox
